Thanksgiving

This year we went to Brandon's house for Thanksgiving. We had so much fun and it was sooooo good to see everyone! All of his brothers and sisters (except for Dantz and Adam-we missed you! and yes Brax still says your name the same way!) came up and then both sets of grandparents came up and his uncle Dee and Aunt Barb and kids. We had a blast and there was so much yummy food! I had gained three pounds and my doctor's appointment that was the Saturday after!

I was in charge of the fruit plate so I decided to get creative and made this cute little turkey!

I love Thanksgiving and would like to write a few things I am thankful for.

1. I am thankful to have such a wonderful husband and son. I don't know what I would do without either of them in my life.

2. I am thankful for my wonderful family. We love living in Rexburg because everyone comes home to parents houses eventually so we always get to see you and we love it! Now we just need Cara and Kash and Brandon and Steph to move closer, so we can see you all the time!

3. I am thankful that I have had such an easy pregnancy. I know that is uncommon for some women but I am thankful for it. I am also thankful that I only have 31 days left!!!!

4. I am thankful for my husband for working so hard to provide for us! We have truly been blessed because of the Lord and Brandon's hard work so I am very grateful!

5. I am thankful for the gospel. I love the way I feel when I am doing what is right, and I love everything it teaches-especially knowing my family can be together forever!

Well it is a little late to write Happy Thanksgiving so I will write Happy Holidays!!! I have already put up our Christmas decorations and have already been listening to Christmas music and I love it! So HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

I started reading this book about a month ago and just barely finished, but wanted to blog how I felt about it. It is about a family where their 2 year old daughter was diagnosed with AML which is Lukemia. They realize that their daughter will need lots of blood transplants, bone marrow transplants, etc... so they go to a genetics doctor and create a baby that is the exact match for their 2 year old daughter. At first all they needed was the cord blood for a transplant that was supposed to work and then it turned into her sister always needing something else from this girl. The genetically matched girl decides to hire a lawyer to get medical emancipation from her parents after they decide that she will donate a kidney to her sister without asking what she thought. The whole book I thought one way until the end and it completely changes your whole perspective. It was a really interesting read, but be warned it is a complete tear jerker!!! And the author does use the F word in it sometimes. It is coming to video in 2009 so I am way excited to go see it. It will have Cameron Diaz and Abigail Breslin and a bunch of other great actors. Just thought I'd share!

Basement part 2 and Finger Painting

This was the first stage of the process of clearing out the rocks for our cold storage. A few guys would fill up buckets of rocks to hand off to a guy at the door. This picture does not even show how many rocks there were. This was taken when they were almost finished. Just imagine that whole room they are in filled to the top with top soil and big rocks!

This was the second stage. A person would take the bucket of rocks and hand it to a guy in the window well.

This is the third stage where the guy in the window well would hand it up to someone waiting up top.

That person would then dump it in the trailer. Once that was full they would go and dump the trailer and be back.

This was the cold storage after it was all cleaned out. We had so many great guys come and help us for a service project and we are forever indebted! It only took them a day and half to clear it all out, which is totally amazing!

Here are some of the guys that came to help us clear out the rocks. It doesn's show everyone that helped, but a lot of them. Thank you so much for all of your help!!!! We could not have done it without you!!!

Here is Braxton's first experience with fingerpaints! He loved it! We made homemade fingerpaints and we bought some and they both were great!

Demolition Derby and Playing in the Snow!

This week we started construction on our basement. We figured we need to get our basement finished before baby #2 comes so she has somewhere to sleep!!! We decided before we started framing that we wanted to cut into the cement under our front porch and create a cold storage/safe. So we have had endless days of rattling with jackhammers and saws to cut through this huge slab of concrete only to find it is filled with dirt!!!! So now we get to haul all the dirt out! What a fun project!!! (j/k) Then Brandon's dad found us a vault door that we are going to put on it! We are way excited because we always wanted a room to keep our important documents safe, be a gun safe, and a place to put food storage and cold storage! It should be neat when it is all finished!




This was one of Braxton's first experiences with snow (last year he was too litte to even remember) We got some snow and by the time we went out to play in it it was almost all gone!!! So we had to go in the shade in the backyard to play. We got Brax all bundled up and sent him out! He loved to eat the snow! He also was cleaning off his trike so he could ride it! It reminded me of having to scrape off windows just to go anywhere! So we are creating a future Idahoan snow driver already! He had a blast!

Jewelry Making

I had some friends this summer introduce me to jewelry making. They didn't teach me, but I did buy some of their jewelry and it was so beautiful that I decided I wanted to learn, so I took a non-credit jewelry class up on campus and it was so much fun! I liked learning about it and making it so tonight I decided I wanted to make my own jewelry. I made this necklace, bracelet, and earrings. I wanted some jewelry to go with gray, white, and turqoise so this is what I came up with. What do you think? I want to have all the girls get together over thanksgiving (hanna's) and christmas (hart's) and learn how to make jewelry. Do you think that would be fun? Let me know!!!

Why Motherhood is Like a Fairy Tale

I got this in my parenting magazine and thought it was hilarious.

1. Your kids insist that their expensive new beds are too soft or too hard. However, your overcrowded bed is just right.

2. Though they eat neon fruit leather by the yard, your children act like you want to poison them if you offer a real apple.

3. Each night when you return home, several waist-high people greet you. One is sleepy and one is grumpy.
